Gopher Tortoise Day is our main annual outreach event to show our appreciation for the keystone species that helped fund the public purchase of Split Oak.

Activities:

• Observe Gopher Tortoise Burrows and Learn about GT Habitat and this important Keystone Species
• Guided Hike at 8 AM and 11 AM
• Self Guided Hikes All Day
• See what Gopher Tortoises Eat (Native Plant Exhibit)
• Tortoise Arts and Crafts with Mary Nesler (Family Friendly)
• Learn about Saving Split Oak Forest
• Free Giveaways
• Meet Sheldon, a real, live Gopher Tortoise with expert handlers; Sheldon is the "Mayor" of GT Day at Split Oak
• Witness signing Ceremony for GT Day Proclamation @ 10:30 AM +/- for photo ops

Please Note: Open Air Setting (Woodsy and Primitive)
Please Bring Your Own Water and Food, Chair (if desired)
